Lake County Secures Health First Indiana Funding
to Boost Public Health Services
Lake County has been awarded significant funding through Health First Indiana, an initiative established by Senate Enrolled Act 4 (2023). The county will receive $4.87 million in 2024 and $9.38 million in 2025, enabling it to expand and enhance its public health programs.
The funding aims to address key health challenges in the community by supporting prevention-focused, evidence-based programs. Lake County will collaborate with local partners to improve access to essential services and implement initiatives in several priority areas. These include chronic disease prevention, tobacco cessation, lead assessment, tuberculosis prevention, immunizations, school health, trauma prevention, emergency preparedness, clinical care access, maternal and child health, infectious disease control, and environmental health.
Eligibility for Funding
Organizations in Lake County that already operate public health programs or require support to develop new initiatives aligned with Core Public Health Services (CPHS) are eligible to apply. The funds will be allocated to help local entities improve public health outcomes, particularly for vulnerable populations and areas most in need of expanded services.
