County Council: The Lake County Council honors the late Senator Earline Rogers
Lake County Councilman Ron Brewer, D-2nd, reads a proclamation honoring the late Senator Earline Rogers for her tireless efforts in support of Gary and Lake County.
PROCAMATION HONORING STATE SENATOR EARLINE ROGERS
WHEREAS, Gary native, Earline Rogers dedicated her life to the service of her community both in education and politics; and
WHEREAS, prior to spending more than three decades in the Indiana General Assembly, Earline Rogers was a teacher in the Gary Public School System for 38 years; and
WHEREAS, Earline Rogers served two years on the Gary Common Council and was the first woman elected President; and
WHEREAS, Earline Rogers served eight years in the House of Representatives and was elected to the Indiana Senate in 1990, where she served for 26 years representing a district largely comprising of the City of Gary; and
WHEREAS, during Ms. Rogers’ tenure at the Statehouse much of her legislative work centered on education, she championed other major issues including casino gambling; and
WHEREAS, Earline Rogers commanded the respect of all who knew her for her dedication, integrity, and hard-work; she was an outstanding civic and community leader, recognized as such by all who worked with her; and
WHEREAS, Earline Rogers demonstrated in her life and her relations with fellow human beings the highest of ideals and personal commitment to her God and to the betterment of all mankind; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Lake County have been deeply saddened by the passing of Earline Rogers.
NOW, THEREFORE the Lake County Council hereby:
Honors Earline Rogers for her meritorious service to the citizens of Lake County and for her lasting legacy to her community.
The Lake County Council hereby recognizes and memorializes the
passing of our very dear friend, Earline Rogers; a copy of this Proclamation shall be spread on the official records of the Lake County Council, and
an official copy shall be delivered to the family of Earline Rogers.

THE LAKE COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IS NOTIFYING ALL PUBLIC AGENCIES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT ARIZONA ST OVER DEEP RIVER BETWEEN 61ST AVE AND 10TH ST WILL BE CLOSED FOR BRIDGE REHABILITATION STARTING MONDAY, AUGUST 26TH AT 6:00 AM THRU , MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25th AT 5:00 PM, WEATHER PERMITTING
THE LAKE COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IS NOTIFYING ALL PUBLIC AGENCIES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT JOLIET ST OVER ST JOHN DITCH BETWEEN INDUSTRIAL DR AND HART ST WILL BE CLOSED FOR REPAIR STARTING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD AT 7:00 AM THRU TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH AT 5:00 PM, WEATHER PERMITTING
